THE BROTHERS QUAY is composed of identical twin brothers and iconic masters of stop-motion animation, STEPHEN and TIMOTHY QUAY. Although the Quay Brothers are best known for their puppet and feature-length films, they have been equally engaged in stage design for opera, ballet and theatre and have brought their unique vision to the advertising world. Most recently, the twins directed the feature film “Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass”, with international renown. The twins have had a huge influence on a generation of filmmakers, including notable fan Christopher Nolan, who has directed the documentary Quay about the duo, curated a theatrical tour showcasing 35mm prints of the Quays’ films, and who is financing the latest film of the Brothers Quay.
